Education

Fort Gibson is home to one of the premier schools in the state, consistently scoring above average on state tests and offers a well-rounded athletic program. Fort Gibson Public Schools is known statewide for its academic and athletic accomplishments. Secondary education is also readily available in the Fort Gibson area with Northeastern State University, Connors State College, Bacone College and Indian Capital Technology Center all within miles.

BACONE COLLEGE

Bacone College, formerly The Indian University, was founded in 1880 to educate American Indian Students. Today, Bacone College is transforming into a tribal college.

At the height of Indian Removal, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation donated land to the American Baptist Church and namely the American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) to establish Bacone College.

For 140 years, students and graduates have assumed leadership positions in communities, tribes, states, churches, and the federal government.

Connors State College has a long history of providing the people of eastern Oklahoma with access to higher education. Since seating its first class of 17 students in 1908, the institution has grown into a comprehensive, multi-campus, two-year college that enrolls more than 3,000 students annually.

Whether you are looking for a traditional college experience or one that allows you to earn a degree on your own time, our two campuses offer the best of both worlds. The Warner Campus houses our traditional students, athletics, and agricultural programs and is the virtual hub of all operations. INDIAN CAPITAL TECHNOLOGY CENTER

ICTC has been recognized by the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education as a Gold Star School 12 times and is ranked as the 6th largest Oklahoma technology center in total full-time enrollments. ICTC serves over 13,954 enrollees, 50 public school districts, and four private schools in all or part of seven counties.
ICTC offers 26 full-time day programs focusing on meeting the needs of business and industry partners and developing world-class leaders for the workplace. In addition, ICTC offers a diverse selection of short-term and online courses ranging from special interest to industry certification as well as customized business and industry training programs that help businesses succeed.
